Age of Escapism and An Orwellian Prophecy - Part 1

It seems people are getting blamed for choosing the "blue pill" time and again. When you put that way like in matrix, you never really have a choice.

Nobody in the right mind would go for the "red pill" except Neo. The irony is that matrix itself is a "blue pill", crafted to entertain the audience exactly to escape their reality. And its a box office hit.

Since the advent of Internet and Social Media, People have grave concerns on how others using them which might affect their love, life and work balance. And they rightly voice out their concerns through Internet and Social Media when and wherever they can.

"No Sarcasm There".

Whether you like it or not, These things are gonna stay. No matter what.

Not just them. Instant Messengers, MMORPGs, or any kind of technological tool or platform that can serve a purpose can out-stand all of those voices as long as the purposes met rightfully.

The concern on addiction despite being real ends up shallow while reducing them to blame games.

While it is true that majority of us addicted on some of the materialistic stuff time and again. The solution given to us are simply "Donts" and "Cants". Even-though these "Donts and Cants" might patch up little on the wounds we endured, the underlying problem stays as it is and might find new ways to explode in the future.

Addiction is not the real culprit here. Addiction is just a coping mechanism as an extension of ESCAPISM.

Yes. The real hard problem is ESCAPISM.

When people fails to accept, acknowledge or appreciate the reality and find ways to escape them. It causes irreversible damage to them and to the society as a whole.

It might sound ridiculous to blame one of our subtle behavior for our day-to-day problems. But we need to call a spade as a spade and can't let our escaping tendencies to ditch it off here too.

Escapism feels like it is a coping mechanism to tackle boredom. But it deceives and extends more than that. It really takes the front seat when you are facing an irrational and empty world coupled with less hopes of a better tomorrow.

To better understand it right under the eye of the hurricane, We need to go back in time when the world looked exactly as of now.

As a society, We had been here before. And it is even a spectacular period carved in the history of humankind and rightly deserves it place.

A period of irrational exuberance, depression, calamity and devastation spanned across 3 decades that changed the world once and forever.
